How to Play NFL Pick 5
Your guide to playing and winning
π How to Login / Sign Up
NFL Pick 5 uses Google to log in. If you have used your email with Google products (Gmail, Docs, Drive, YouTube, Play, and so on), you can sign in here with that same email.
That means the address is not registered with Google yet. You can still use your own email β create a Google account with it. It only takes a few minutes.
Open Googleβs signup form (works with a non-Gmail address):
https://accounts.google.com/SignUpWithoutGmail
Youβll need a name, that email, and a password. Google will send a verification email. After you verify, come back here and sign in with Google using that same address.
πΌοΈ Profile Picture
Profile pictures come from Gravatar, which manages avatars for your email. To change yours, go to https://en.gravatar.com, upload an image, and associate it with the same email you use to sign in here.
If the image does not show up, make sure it is rated βGβ and the email matches exactly.
π Getting Started
Each week, pick 5 NFL teams to win against the spread. Earn 1 point for each correct pick and compete against your group throughout the season.
Create or join a group to compete with friends. Each group has its own leaderboard where you can track your progress all season long.
π Understanding Spreads
The spread is the predicted margin of victory. A negative spread means that team is favored and must win by more than that amount. A positive spread means the team is the underdog.
Example: -3.5 means favored by 3.5 points, +3.5 means underdog by 3.5 points
If the spread is NYG -3.5 vs NE +3.5:
- Pick NYG: They must win by 4 or more points
- Pick NE: They can lose by 3 or less, or win outright
Point spreads are updated every Thursday. Once you make your picks, the spread is locked for your picks regardless of any future changes.
β Making Your Picks
Select exactly 5 teams per week. You cannot pick both teams in the same game.
You can change your picks anytime before the game starts. Once a game kicks off, your pick is locked and cannot be changed.
It is your responsibility to save picks before games start. Picks saved after kickoff will not count. All picks are timestamped.
π― Scoring Rules
Earn 1 point for each correct pick. Your season total is the sum of all your weekly correct picks.
- If a game ends in a tie (rare), it counts as a loss
- If a game is cancelled or postponed beyond the week, it counts as a loss
The player with the most points at the end of the season wins. Weekly winners are highlighted on the leaderboard.
Week 1 pot is $5 Γ the number of players in the group. If nobody gets all 5 correct that week, the pot rolls into the next week. The group admin updates the amount each week, and it is shown at the top of the leaderboard.
π Updates and Leaderboard
Final scores are updated periodically (not live). Correct picks are calculated automatically after games end.
Track your ranking, view other players' picks, and see who is leading the pack. The leaderboard updates after each game week.
View how teams performed against the spread and see what percentage of players picked each team.
